Private protection services agencies have been providing security services since time immemorial. Yet, in the electronic age, security from hackers, viruses and other assaults have spawned a new industry of “Managed Security Services” (“MSS”). Such services may be provided remotely from the provider’s business facilities, with specific software tools and other “firewalls” installed locally at the enterprise customer’s site. The MSS provider manages and maintains the entire “security infrastructure.” This could be done alone or as part of a larger “Internet Services Provider” package of services.
